Societe Generale

It is one of the most relevant companies in France in terms of financial services. It is located through its branches in various parts of the world. It offers investment, retail, and corporate banking products, as well as insurance.

It is one of the oldest banks in the country created under a royal decree in 1864 to help trade in France at that time. At first, it was called General Company to support the development of business and industry in France. Subsequently, it began to establish branches throughout the country.

From 1872, due to the economic crisis that Europe had in those days, the institution decided to expand to South America, specifically in Peru. In 1901, it established the Banque du Nord, a branch in Russia. That allowed the bank to merge with the Russo-Chinoise Bank and create the Russo-Asiatique Bank (BRA) in 1910. During the Second World War, in addition to the economic crisis it produced, 127 bank infrastructures were attacked by bombing.

In 1945 the bank was nationalized. The period of the financial crisis ended in 1959, and the economy began to increase. It continued to expand rapidly, this time in the United States, Italy, Mexico, and part of Africa. In 1990, they redesigned the company logo.

Societe Generale bought Crédit du Nord because the company had invested enough money in some technological developments. Crédit du Nord had a consolidated base of several banks that allowed it to achieve the objective. Thanks to this acquisition, the company strengthened its retail banking activities in Europe and Africa. In 2002, the entity began using the euro currency. From 2010 to the present, the bank started using the digital era in its favor. It established mobile applications where customers could perform necessary banking activities.
