JPMorgan Chase

It is a multinational bank that offers financial services in the United States and the world. It is one of the oldest financial institutions in the country. It provides a wide range of services and products such as asset management, commercial bonds, commercial banking, credit and debit cards, foreign exchange market, and many more.

History

In 1799, The Manhattan Company was created to offer pure water services to the inhabitants. At that time, banks were considered companies that provided public services. In 1823, The Chemical Bank was founded, which was a company responsible for manufacturing chemicals, medicines, and more.

Years later, The Manhattan Company dedicated itself solely to financial activities because the State had implemented a water supply system. J. Pierpont Morgan, along with Anthony Drexel, created the Drexel, Morgan & Co. Drexel. Years later, it changed its name to JP Morgan & Co.

In 1877, the Chase National Bank was founded. During those years, these institutions were financing several works such as the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, and the Panama Canal.

Due to the Great Depression, in 1933, the National Bank of Detroit is established to provide banking services to the people of the city. Years later, in 1955, Chase National Bank joins The Bank of The Manhattan Company to form a more consolidated bank called Chase Manhattan Bank.

Chase Manhattan Corporation merges with Chemical Banking Corporation in 1996 and four years later, with JP Morgan & Co. The combination of these institutions created JPMorgan Chase & Co.
