It was created under the name of Adana-Kayseri Bankası in 1948 as a commercial bank to finance the cotton producers of that time in the country. It quickly changed the name to Akbank or AK. In 1954, it was established in Istanbul. Since 1990, the bank’s actions began to be important internationally. Three years later, it created the Akbank Sanat art center in Beyoğlu.
